D2W are offering a 10% student discount on 3d printing throughout the month of May 2012. Any quote requested during May will be honoured for printing through June 2012.

This offer applies across all 4 of our 3d printed materials:

Don't let the build dimensions of the machines limit your ambitions, as we can assist you in order to produce the elements that can be fitted together post printing in order to achieve larger models.

Also please bear in mind that if you group together with other colleagues to consolidate builds, we can achieve better prices.

Please send us your files for checking and quoting purposes and give us as much notice of your deadlines as possible.

"Clones" from D2W this Christmas

INTRODUCING OUR "CLONE" LED LIGHT SHADES FOR CHRISTMAS

We x-rayed an Alder cone that was found on the pavement near our office. This was then digitised and modified in CAD in order to hollow out the centre. This was then 3D printed in Nylon to produce these delightful perfect cone replicas to adorn your Christmas tree this year.

These could not have been made in any other way!

The recent article in The Economist discusses the impact of 3D printing technologies on the manufacturing industry. The printed Stradivarius was made in a fabricator of the same family as D2W's own SLS machine, supplied by EOS.

A related article explores rapid manufacturing and the changes that will be seen with this more available access to the technology - 'Three-dimensional printing from digital designs will transform manufacturing and allow more people to start making things.' Exactly.
