Nylon SLS prints of Alder cone scan, modified to accept LED light fittings

Designed by D2W, the Clones started out as a single Alder cone found on the pavement outside the D2W office.

The natural cone was then scanned on a CT scanner and digitally modified in CAD software to create an aperture for the insertion of an LED light.  Once this CAD file was created, it was possible to print nylon copies on our SLS printer.

This object demonstrates the power of scanning, CAD and 3D Printing to produce objects that could not have be produced in any other way.

The “Clones” are available to buy from our Shop
