Nylon SLS Whale Skeleton, Nylon SLS Dyed Base

D2W was approached by Nicholas Hare Architects with a view to producing a commemorative gift for the attendees of the grand opening of the David Attenborough Building in Cambridge, which includes the Museum of Zoology.

The 3D drawing of the skeleton of a finback whale was produced in Rhino from detailed photographs and measurements.

A commemorative gift was made of the Nylon SLS 3D Printed skeleton, a Dyed Nylon SLS 3D printed base and a thin brass rod connecting the two together.

A limited edition of 30 was produced and presented to attendees at the dinner to commemorate the opening of the building in April 2015.
